ConRAC @ LAX Project

Performance Utility Supply has been hard at work delivering temp power solutions to our friends over at Morrow Meadows. The electrical contractor is currently busy working on one of the major components to the LAX landside access modernization program, the Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility. Also known as ConRAC, The facility, whose groundbreaking ceremony was led by Mayor Eric Garcetti, will centralize rental car operations currently spread across the surrounding area of LAX.

Since 2009, Mayor Garcetti has led a $14 Billion transformation for LAX creating thousands of jobs in the process. “We are building a world-class airport that travelers need and deserve,” said Garcetti. “Our city is doing so much more than building a parking structure — we are making an investment that will improve the traveling experience, reduce congestion in surrounding neighborhoods, and create middle-class careers for years to come.”  https://www.lamayor.org/mayor-garcetti-and-los-angeles-world-airports-break-ground-historic-consolidated-rental-car-facility

The ConRAC facility will provide direct connection to LAX’s Automated People Mover (APM) train system. With this direct connection, rental car shuttles will no longer be needed to shuttle customers to and from the Central Terminal Area (CTA), which will result in the elimination of more than 3,200 daily rental car shuttle trips on the surrounding streets and into and out of the CTA.

It also features a Quick Turn Around (QTA) area, allowing for the light maintenance of vehicles such as car washing, oil changes and tire rotation. This QTA facility will help alleviate traffic congestion by keeping operations within the footprint of the facility and not out on the city streets. https://www.lawa.org/en/connectinglax/consolidated-rent-a-car-facility

We are so grateful that we get to play a small part in the process of historical development for the great City of Angels. It takes a community of contractors and businesses like ours to make progress happen. The new facility is scheduled to open in 2023 and we can’t wait to see how this new change to the landscape of LAX changes the infrastructure and outlying communities. We know it will be for the better.

Big Sky North Project

Performance Utility Supply was able to lend our friends in Rosendin Electric a hand by delivering a whole bunch of black High-Density Polyethylene pipe and HPDE Fusion Machines to their construction site in Antelope Valley.  The pipe is being used for an undergrounding a 230-kV transmission line. The fusion machines take two lengths of the black pipe and connect them together through a high-temperature fusion process. We plan on taking a lot more loads up there over the course of the project.

Rosendin has been working on the Big Sky North Project since last year. They've been contracted through sPower, the largest private owner of operating solar assets in the US, to connect the 230-kV Underground Transmission Line to the existing Big Sky North substation.

We are always happy to work with our friends at Rosendin Electric and we're going to continue helping by keeping all the HDPE Pipe they need in stock and ready for delivery. It takes teamwork to get the job done.
